Overview

Starting a project with a blank canvas is exciting and challenging, but in the end, always satisfying for all. This project is an eclectic blend of old and new, which was an illusion we hoped to achieve. Guess what, mission accomplished with clean lines, soft edges and a pool that appears to look like an old stone structure/foundation. With a slightly falling grade, we decided to site the pool in a way that it was also out of grade, with a seat wall on the far end. Since it was out of grade, we also decided to wrap the bond beam/shell of the pool in a stone veneer, like an old ruin/structure. I love the look, opposed to the conventional pool coping and tile application.

Vision

The pool is to appear as if it was an original foundation to a structure that was converted into a swimming pool, but it was all from scratch. The reflection of the stone surround looks incredible against the cool blue water. Aside from the pool, the goal and intent was to create intimate spaces and vignettes for our clients. Whether that was by the pool, the deck with a pergola overhead or a raised bluestone terrace. Each space has it’s own feel, experience and view within a much larger space.

Transformation

This is one of our favorite projects, because the clients allowed us to create our vision, based upon their needs, which made the process very enjoyable for all. The transformation is the best part of the process, especially when you reflect back from which you started. That transformation and process is what fuels us!!
